Il mal di schiena,quante volte ne abbiamo sentito parlare o sofferto in prima persona?
Possiamo sostenere che è diffuso come e più del raffreddore.
I costi sociali di gestione sono persino superiori a quelli sostenuti per tumori e diabete messi insieme.
L’argomento mal di schiena però è pieno di luoghi comuni da sfatare.
…I falsi miti
Ho qualcosa fuori posto/ ho il bacino storto/ una vertebra ruotata o altre “diagnosi fantastiche” .
L’evidenza scientifica spesso non ha nessuna evidenza riguardo a queste affermazioni!
Una manipolazione vertebrale spesso fa stare meglio,ma….
Non sempre il miglioramento è il risultato di un “aggiustamento meccanico” ma di più complessi meccanismi di regolazione del dolore.
Con il riposo a letto,guarirò sicuramente!
Nella maggior parte delle situazioni, alla comparsa del dolore in forma acuta può essere utile ridurre i carichi di lavoro e di stress sulle strutture interessate.
Le ricerche scientifiche però concordano che un rapido ritorno alla quotidianità favorisca una più veloce guarigione.
II riposo a letto per lunghi periodi,comporta un incremento di dolore, una maggiore disabilita’ ed assenza dal lavoro per tempi maggiori.
In realtà non c’è sempre una correlazione fra intensità del dolore e gravita’ del problema.
La scala di percezione del dolore dipende da una molti fattori, fra i quali il livello di stress, l’umore, le esperienze precedenti, la paura etc.
Il sistema nervoso agisce come un allarme,sia che che ci sia un insulto piccolo,sia più intenso. lui si attiverà sempre!
Indagini diagnostiche frettolose!
Approfondimenti diagnostici (Rx o Risonanza magnetica) sono realmente necessari e correlati al mal di schiena in una bassissima percentuale di pazienti (<5%).
Molte persone senza dolore alla schiena, mostrano alla risonanza magnetica bulging o degenerazioni discali, ernia, e degenerazioni artrosiche (38%)
Intervento chirurgico!
Solo una piccolissima percentuale di persone con mal di schiena avrà bisogno della chirurgia.
Le persone con lombalgia possono gestire il problema rimanendo attive, comprendendo meglio i meccanismi del dolore e identificando i fattori ad esso correlati.
Studi recenti dimostrano che tra i pazienti operati e pazienti non operati,ma che hanno praticato una terapia conservativa,a distanza di anni presentano risultati pressochè identici!

Fare regolarmente esercizio fisico ci fa stare meglio,riduce il dolore e le tensioni agendo sia a livello muscolare che psichico e ormonale.
Non Tutti gli esercizi vanno bene, vanno scelti con attenzione! La schiena deve essere libera di muoversi in tutte le direzioni.
Se alcuni movimenti provocano disturbo significa che vanno valutati e rieducati ma non abbandonati.
Il mio mal di schiena non passera’ mai, le ho già provate tutte!
Il mal di schiena è collegato a moltissimi fattori.
L’insuccesso di un trattamento come un massaggio o una seduta di manipolazione o di un ciclo di terapie fisiche può essere scoraggiante.
Mai perdere la speranza: un buon clinico utilizzerà un approccio multifattoriale e multidisciplinare.
